What happens when you follow creative sparks…
It was Painting and drawing that lead to me to snowy (and beautiful) Syracuse University for my graphic arts degree all those years ago.
Post-college, my graphic design education landed me in Broadcast Graphics at NBC Chicago and then at NBC New York working on the national news, The Today Show, and Rosie O’Donnell shows. During those crazy, unique, and fun years, several broadcast Emmys came my way (along with a chance meeting with Tony Bennett on the way to the cafeteria and a choice viewing spot for the Rockefeller Christmas tree lighting).
Keeping the drawing bug alive, as a freelance artist I worked with companies to create illustrations for invitations and stationary products, a cookbook for a local shop owner, and rubber stamps for the crafty folks out there. I craft, you craft!
Writing also fuels my creativity as well…so I started a blog when my two daughters were wee gals and I was a stay-at-home mom. Surprises abounded as more writing assignments evolved; food writing. eco- writing, writing for local businesses.
But through it all, I have always loved nature and gardening…As a longtime lover and grower of flowers, plants and herbs, an herbal certifications seemed a natural step to further round out my interest most recently. Hence, drawing and writing about plants, gardens and nature is the perfect fit.
You never know where a creative path will lead you…isn’t it wonderful?
